Pokemon TCG 30th Celebration: Set Guide and Australian Release Dates

Pokemon TCG 30th Celebration releases worldwide on Wednesday 16 September 2026, and Australian retailers are listing the same date for the launch wave. It is an all-foil anniversary set of 128 numbered cards plus secret rares, with a guaranteed Pikachu in every pack, a new Futuristic Rare rarity, and a Classic Collection of 30 reprinted cards from the game's history. Here is what is in the set, what each product contains, and when the later waves land through to December.

What the set actually is

30th Celebration marks 30 years of the Pokemon Trading Card Game. Unlike a normal main set, every single card is foil, including the Basic Energy. The set code on the cards is CEL30 with a 30C symbol. Card databases tracking the English previews count 128 numbered cards, with secret rares pushing the numbering to at least 158/128 so far. PokeBeach put the total at roughly 150 cards once secrets are included, and the final secret count has not been confirmed.

A booster pack holds six foil cards: five regular foil cards and one foil Basic Energy, plus a Pokemon TCG Live code card in English packs. One of those five cards is always a Pikachu. There are 30 different Pikachu illustrations, one per artist, numbered 023 to 052, so the "collect all 30 Pikachu" chase is built into the pack structure rather than being a rare pull.

This is a worldwide simultaneous release. The Japanese version comes out the same day with different card numbering, which is unusual for Pokemon and is part of why the date is firm.

The new rarity and the big chase cards

The headline addition is the Futuristic Rare, a new rarity debuting in this set. The artwork is by Japanese artist YOSHIROTTEN and the cards show Pokemon in a forward-looking style that does not match anything else in the current era. Two Futuristic Rares have been confirmed: Mewtwo ex at 157/128 and Mew ex at 158/128. Expect those two to be the cards everyone asks about on release day.

Beyond that, the set carries the usual Double Rare Pokemon ex, Illustration Rare and Special Illustration Rare slots. Greninja ex, Sylveon ex, Umbreon ex, Espeon ex and Salamence ex are among the confirmed ex cards, and all three Kanto legendary birds appear.

Classic Collection: 30 reprints with a 30 stamp

If you remember the Celebrations set from the 25th anniversary, the structure here is similar. 30th Celebration has a Classic Collection subset of 30 reprinted cards from earlier eras, each carrying a "30" Pikachu stamp and a special foil treatment. They are not tournament legal. Confirmed cards so far include Base Set Charizard, Base Set Pikachu and the Pikachu and Zekrom Tag Team card, and the teaser artwork points to cards from Aquapolis, Great Encounters, Legends Awakened, Triumphant, Vivid Voltage, Sword and Shield and Brilliant Stars.

Classic Collection cards can be pulled from ordinary boosters. The Ultra-Premium Collections in November also include a separate Classic Collection pack with three etched cards from the subset.

Every product and when it releases

One thing to know up front: the product guides published so far list no standalone booster box and no loose booster packs for this set. Packs come inside the boxed products, which is why the ETB and the ex Boxes are getting the most attention.

Wave one, 16 September 2026. The Elite Trainer Box has nine booster packs, a full-art foil Nidorina promo, 16 foil Basic Energy cards, 65 sleeves, dice, a coin and the usual collector box with dividers. The Pokemon Center Elite Trainer Box has more packs and two Nidorina promos, one stamped and one not. The Sylveon ex Box and Greninja ex Box each hold four packs, a foil promo and a foil oversize card of the featured Pokemon. The Poster Collection has three packs, foil promos of Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres, and a large double-sided poster showing imagery from more than 160 cards in the expansion. The Tech Sticker Collection has three packs, a sticker sheet and a foil promo of either Alolan Exeggutor or Lucario. The Knock Out Collection and the 2-Pack Blister both have two packs, a foil Eevee promo and a coin.

Wave two, 2 October 2026. The Day and Night Mini Tins have two packs, a sticker sheet and one of ten art cards. The Booster Bundle is six packs and nothing else, which makes it the cheapest way per pack to open the set outside an ETB.

Wave three, 30 October 2026. The Espeon ex and Umbreon ex Battle Decks are 60-card decks where every card is foil, with a deck box, playmat, coin and a Victini or Zeraora promo.

Wave four, 6 November 2026. The Ultra-Premium Collection comes in Day and Night versions, each with 29 booster packs, one Classic Collection pack of three etched cards, a foil Pikachu ex promo, a foil Espeon ex or Umbreon ex promo, playmat, sleeves, deck box, metal coin and dice. The Ditto Premium Collection has eight packs, a Ditto promo and an acrylic display. The Mew and Mewtwo Figure Collections have five packs, a foil promo, an oversize card and a sculpted figure.

Wave five, 4 December 2026. The Sylveon ex and Greninja ex Tins have four packs and a promo. The Binder Collection has five packs and a nine-pocket binder. One note on the binder: the US distributor lists it for 4 December, while the Australian retailer calendar we used for our release schedule had it in the October wave, so check with your shop before counting on either date.

Australian release dates and pre-orders

Because the release is simultaneous worldwide, Australia is not waiting on a separate street date this time. Collectible Madness lists the Sylveon ex Box for 16 September 2026, and Game Collectors lists the ex Box with an expected release of 16 September. Both had the ex Box marked sold out or out of stock on pre-order at the time of writing, which tells you where demand sits a week out.

The pre-order terms are worth reading. Game Collectors states that the Sylveon or Greninja version is selected randomly, that pre-orders take preference and are filled in date order, and that if supplier allocations fall short, pre-orders are honoured first and everyone else is refunded. That is standard practice for a hyped Pokemon release and it is how allocation works at most Australian shops. If your local store has a pre-order list, get on it now rather than walking in on the Wednesday.

The later waves are easier. Booster Bundles and Mini Tins in October usually sit on shelves longer than ETBs, and the November premium products are priced high enough that they tend to be available for a while.

How it compares to Celebrations from 2021

Collectors who bought Celebrations for the 25th anniversary will recognise the pattern: a compact main set, a Classic Collection of reprints with an anniversary stamp, and product built around boxed collections rather than booster boxes. The differences are that 30th Celebration is bigger (128 cards versus 25 in the Celebrations main set), every card is foil rather than every pack having a guaranteed foil, and the Pikachu chase is spread across 30 artist variants instead of a handful of promos. We still sell Celebrations singles and sealed product five years on, which is a fair indication of how anniversary sets hold interest.
